Cake smash photography is quickly becoming one of my favorite type of sessions to shoot.
This particular session featured little Harrison, who turned 1 on March 7.
Harrison’s mom, who also happens to be an old high school friend of mine, asked to do a Where the Wild Things Are theme – the same as his birthday party.
For this, I chose to do an natural, outdoor setting – which allowed us to keep any extra props or decorations to a minimum.
The cake, baked by local baker, Beenish Naqui, was also minimalistic but very cute.
When you think cake smash, you imagine the baby will not spare the cake. But in Harrison’s case, we had a hard time convincing him to get his fingers dirty with icing.
Before the cake smash session, Harrison was joined by his mother and father for a short family photo session.
We even got some shots with the bluebonnets – because, Texas!
